America West Airlines's Pet Travel Policy
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulates air transportation of pets and all airlines are required by law to follow the guidelines outlined on our Air Travel Regulations for Pets page. Individual airlines may impose further restrictions or fees for flying with your pet. America West Airlines's pet policy is described below.

Pets in the Cabin:
One small dog is allowed to travel with you in the passenger cabin. Regulations limit the number of pets carried in each cabin, so you should call America West well in advance to reserve a flight for yourself and your pet. Your pet carrier counts toward the carry-on baggage allowance and the maximum carrier size is 14"x14"x9" for first class and 15"x16"x10" for coach. Though these are the maximums, America West recommends the use of a smaller carrier or one that is soft-sided so that it is flexible enough to fit under smaller seats. A health certificate issued within 30 days of originating travel must be presented at check in.
The charge is $80 USD per pet plus applicable taxes for one-way travel in the passenger cabin.
Pets Checked with Baggage:
America West's hub cities of Phoenix and Las Vegas have extreme temperatures that regularly exceed 100 degrees. For the safety of your pet, they do not accept any animals in the cargo compartment.
