It's part of the UK rail network, so prices remain affordable for dogs and their owners. There are lots of lovely little stops along the way, which includes the highest train station in the whole country. Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, a Lake District icon, is pet-friendly. During the forty minute ride, you'll journey from Ravenglass, through the nature reserves of the estuary, and ascend through ancient woodlands toward the foothills of England’s highest mountains, ending in Dalegarth. Leashed dogs are welcome to travel on the railway for a small charge. The Jacobite The Jacobite is a pet-friendly steam locomotive that winds from Fort William to Mallaig in Scotland. The 21-arched viaduct that you pass over on the way has been featured in Harry Potter and is a sight to behold. Fido is welcome to join you in the standard section of the Jacobite. One dog is permitted per booking and travels for free, but pups must remain on a leash at all times and are not allowed on the seats. Tickets start at £30 per adult and £20 per child.
