Awe Inspiring Experience
Custer State ParkWe drove wildlife loop with our well behaved, low prey drive (okay no prey drive) pooch. Towards the end hundreds of buffalo were blocking the road grazing with their young. Some came within a foot of the traffic that had stopped to allow them to cross. It was amazing! I think as long as you don’t have a pup that would bark or disturb the Buffalo this is a must do!
Not Always Pup Friendly
The Silver Lining Creamery - Main Street SquareWonderful ice cream in a fun, family friendly location. Their ordering window is not always open. Thankfully we had three adults and were able to split up... make sure you have an extra person that can run inside to order just in case. Also, their doggy water bowl was super yuck.
A Must Stop
Murphy's Pub and GrillMurphy’s was on our list of must try Dog Friendly places. When we arrived they were closing the patio. When the hostess noticed we had a pup she made an exception and set us up under the covered portion of their patio and made us feel right at home. The patio was great for the whole family, they had yard games like corn hole and a giant connect four. Staff was extremely friendly and constantly giving Porkchop, our pup, love. The food was AMAZING. I highly recommend the Murphy Burger and the Strawberry Habanero wings. Murphy’s was everyone’s favorite food stop on our trip. We hope to make it back again!
Great Service, Great Food, Pet Friendly
Thirsty'sWe had a wonderful experience at Thirsty’s. Their covered patio was closed after a storm went through the night before, but the staff still made sure our pooch was welcome and comfortable on their front patio. Our waiter (I wish I would have grabbed his name) was seriously the best waiter we had in Rapid City. We were the only table outside but he still made sure we were well taken care of. They also have the best buffalo burgers!
Dog Friendly Hotel
Home2 Suites by Hilton Rapid CityWe enjoyed our stay at Home 2. As far as dog friendliness we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The dog park was kept clean, as were the other dog areas and the hotel staff were friendly to our pup, constantly offering love and treats. The reason I gave it four stars is because the housekeeping was sloppy (we are clean people). They were also still cleaning rooms late into the afternoon/evening which was inconvenient as we had to sit with our pup in the lobby for over two hours while they finished our floor.
