North Peninsula State Park

North Peninsula State Park in Ormond Beach, FL, is pet friendly. Unfortunately, Fido isn't welcome on the beaches, in any buildings, or in the water at this park, but they can still enjoy the bike path along State Road A1A or the two-mile Coastal Strand Trail, which, for the wildlife-lovers, is home to the gopher tortoise and the Eastern indigo snake. Not ideal

I had high Hope's for the Coastal Strand Trail in this park. It is very wet and muddy at the beginning, which is fine, I can clean paws. As you go farther it turns into a sandy trail, which would be fine, but the sand spurs were everywhere! We had to turn around soon after we hit the sandy part because every few steps my dog had sand spurs stuck in his paws. If you go, your pup will need booties to protect its feet.
