I find this park to be a keeper for my Lacey gsd to run and play with other dogs. She gets her ya-yas out by running around with her dog friends.
Always remember that there are no stupid dogs, just some stupid owners. Don’t let other owners treat you or your dog badly! - RobinJun 19, 2022One of my favorite dog parks
I love this park. It is not fenced, but it is both big enough, and has clear enough designations that I have never felt like it was a problem. In fact the size and lack of fencing seems to discourage agression. There is a walking trail along the back of the property and a huge open field. Water fountains and a couple picnic tables.
As all dog parks go, it can be muddy after rain, and sometimes they can't keep up with the mowing (it's Oregon, after all.) But I love this one and take my dogs whenever I'm in town. Plus, there are miles of on-leash walking trails all around it.

We we’re in Salem to pick up a sister for our sheepadoodle and took her here for her morning romp. She did great! Friendly people and dogs. Definitely would recommend.

both you and your dog will happily make many great puppy and people friends here. my dog was so fearful I couldn’t take him on a walk because he would freeze at the sound of a barking dog. After a few trips to Minto-Brown he flourished into a social butterfly. He has a half doz. regular buddies that love to wrestle and play chase but he tries to make friends with everyone. he is a13-mo. old 75 lb mass of energy so playing chase and wrestling is great. it doe get a little muddy at times after a lot of rain but there’s really enough space for all kinds of dog personalities.

At Minto you can walk your dog down miles of trails, go to the dog park area, or get your pooch swimming in the willamette River.

We’ve been coming here for 2 years now. There’s lots of room for the dogs to run, benches for people to sit on, a great circular walking trail, doggie bags, running water during the warmer season, high and low grass, trees, and just outside the off leash park there are miles of trails for leashed dogs. Truly one of the greatest non fenced parks.
I’ve met people here with newly socialized puppies, to senior dogs on their final park visit. Dog lovers everywhere. Most of the people here are very responsible and watch and clean up after their dogs.
Great way to meet people and get the dogs socialized. - TomNov 25, 2018My dogs love this park
I am so glad to have a dog park nearby for my dogs to run around and play with their dog-friends. It is not fenced in but in the 3 years I have been coming here I have never seen anyone's dog run off from here. There are plenty of places outside the dog area where you can walk your dog on leash and a paved trail along the river that goes all the way to Riverfront Park. Be sure to bring water for you and your dog as there is only one fountain at the entrance and they remove it in the winter seasons (so the pipe does not freeze and burst). For those who are curious the perimeter of the dog park is one mile.

I was a little concerned at first being a husky owner but the park is large enough that we really don’t have an issue with there not being a fence. My pup loves to scent out the rabbits in the tall grass area and we love walking all of the trails!

This is by far one of the best dog parks I've ever been to. Even though it's not fenced in it has the illusion of being fenced in and I have never seen a dog go into the road. The trails are beautiful the park is huge and the owners are very responsible for their dogs. I've been going to this park for 7 years and have never seen a problem occur with any of the dogs.

I've been bringing dogs here for many years and love the natural open space the dogs have roam roam and play without being confined. There are also on leash trails and river access. Soon there will also be a connecting bridge to Salem's Downtown Riverfront park as well as Wallace Marine park. Come visit and check out Minor!

I am not a fan of parks that are not fenced in. My dog is of a herding breed and likes to herd naturally. Which makes parks that are I fenced a miserable experience for her with such a beautiful area it seems like the city would allow a small fenced in area where dogs can socialize with each other easier.

I bring my dog here all the time. It is great as long as your dog has good recall (not fenced in). There's lots of space and other trails to go on. Great park.
- Queen of Fifty CentsMore than a year agoMy dogs go here twice a day!
I'm lucky enough to live 5 minutes from the best dog park I've ever been to. The off-leash area is huge, with plenty of room for dogs to run and play without getting in each others' faces. As in any dog park there occasionally is a rude or under-socialized dog, but with so much space there are very few spats. I've met some awfully nice people and dogs here, and my dogs get the daily exercise that makes them easy to live with. Come visit!
