- DrateJul 15, 2024Great food & view but lackluster dog seating
We brought our two dogs here on a Monday night around 6pm and found the dog friendliness to be over stated. They provided two water bowls for the entire place and there was no seating that could accommodate our dogs not being in a main pathway.
- StaceyJul 14, 2024Yummy Pup Cups
What a great place. Lunch on the water. Live music. Yummy food and healthy pup cups too!
- LizJun 19, 2024Great Waterfront Location for Dogs!
Extremely pet friendly location with a water view! The food was okay. It’s take out seafood which they bring to your table.
- AndrewMay 11, 2024Great Experience
Live music, good food, dog friendly. Perfect.
- AngieSep 23, 2023Nice Atmosphere!
Good food, bands, good beer choices, what else do you need. they brought out a water bowl for our pup. The food comes out quick and the tables turn over quickly.
- ConnieMay 25, 2023Dogs Welcomed
Waterfront restaurant that's casual and dog friendly. Had the crabcake along with lobster Mac and Cheese, which was good and came with a corn on the cob that was sweet and in season.
Walk up to the bar to place your order, they give you a stand up number and you seat yourself by grabbing a table on their patio.
Service is ok but what do you expect if it's a seat yourself, casual restaurant? Food was very reasonably priced for fresh seafood. - KristalJun 9, 2022Great for rainy weather!
You can eat under a tent so you are protected from the weather. The staff was friendly and there is a watering bowl for your pups. The food was great as well.
- JessicaJul 5, 2020Good Food!
The food was good and the staff was very friendly.
- RhiannonSep 2, 2019Great Enclosed Patio
We brought our dog to Portland Lobster Company over Labor Day weekend. The food was delicious - great lobster and lobster rolls! The patio is in a tent so is protected if it’s too windy or cold. They were very accommodating to our pup
- AdriannaAug 19, 2019Nice Patio Seating
Our pup is a little young so he was very interested in seeing everything and didn’t really sit still. Bystanders were great tho and so was the staff. Food was mediocre
- PamelaJul 13, 2019Big patio, delicious lobster rolls
We were able to order outside at the bar with the dogs. We found seats in the shade on the patio right away. The bar had water bowls to borrow for the dogs and we greatly enjoyed our lobster rolls! Great spot!
- SašaJun 30, 2019Great Patio
Covered area where pups are welcome.
- KateAug 2, 2018Tented with tent walls
We ate dinner here on Wednesday 8/1/18. You order and pay at the indoor counter before walking to the back bar/tent area to be seated. A live band was playing at the bar, which my dog didn't particularly like. We lucked out and were seated at the second-to-last picnic table at the far end of the tent. Bowser had room to hang out under the picnic table. The best part about this place was that the seating is under a tent with durable clear sides. It was raining steadily during our only night in Portland, but this place made it possible to still go out with the pup! We enjoyed calamari, scallops, and lobster mac and cheese.
- TracyMay 7, 2018Second Time to Portland Lobster Co
My dog was a little more antsy eating here this time around. What's odd is that he settled right down when a set of labs arrived. Guess he just needed canine companions while we ate.
Lobster rolls aren't huge, but the amount of lobster to the roll is great. Fries are crispy and flavorful. Chowder is always good. They do have pitchers of beer, which is a nice change of pace. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor tent/patio.
- AnnMar 15, 2018Outside Tent Has Heat
I thought I'd left a review from my visit last year, but apparently I never did. There's one reason Portland Lobster Company is the best dog-friendly restaurant in Portland. There is a covered tent that is pet-friendly and has heaters. If it's a cooler spring day or it's raining, you won't have to get takeout and stay in your hotel. Grab a picnic table, order at the bar, get a pitcher of beer or whatever you desire, and enjoy water views while you dine.
- JulesMore than a year agoAlways a great time...
Fair pricing, incredible live music, and dog friendly... winning combination! Nice people too! Highly recommended... we have been coming for 8 years.
- SarahMore than a year agoVery welcoming for pups
We were able to bring our medium sized dog in the restaurant to order and outside to eat. There were plenty of dogs in both areas, all well behaved. The view is great from the deck area, there was a water bowl out front for our dog, and all three of us enjoyed the food!
- LauraMore than a year agoMay be better at a different time
We loved the atmosphere here and the fact that it's right on the water. The lobster roll was good, but not the best we had while visiting Portland. We went during the lunch hour and it happened to be graduation weekend. This made the restaurant VERY overwhelming as it was completely packed. We have a bigger dog, and she is well socialized. She was so overwhelmed by all the people standing everywhere, the loud music, screaming babies, and everybody touching her, that she smashed herself between two tables and refused to come out. We finished our lobster roll quickly and went down the street to somewhere less crowded. I'm sure it would be a completely different experience had we visited at another time of day, but it wasn't for us.
- AliMore than a year agoPopular spot that welcomes dogs
We stopped by on our way from Boston to mid-Maine. We were lucky we arrived when we did as 30 minutes later and the line would have been so long we would have changed plans. It was a sunny Saturday and a band played near our table on the patio. Our dog was happy and there were many other dogs. They did not bring us water, but she never drinks the water when brought anyway as there is too much going on.
Food wise, the lobster roll was good but far from the best I have ever had. Atmosphere made up for that though.
- BartlebyMore than a year agoWorth the hype
After being forced to stomach every tourist trap on a group trip earlier in the summer, my wife and I wanted to steer clear of really crowded spots when we went up to New England on a Phishing trip in early July. But after hearing all the superlatives attributed to this place, we felt obligated to try it. We brought our dog and found a spot to sit out on one of the side decks, had a few beers and ordered a lobster roll and clam strips. Beers were the same as everywhere else, and though the food here was pricey ($17 for the lobster roll with no sides), it was pretty memorable. The best clam strips we've ever eaten, hands down. Good service, and a social atmosphere. It does live up to the hype.
- RhondaMore than a year agobest lobster EVER
Very friendly staff & every one (staff & patrons) loved our "fluppies".
- StephanieMore than a year agoGreat Dog-Friendly Atmosphere
Overall a great place! Very dog friendly, great deck with ocean view, and delicious local seafood (the lobster roll lives up you he hype!) There was live music from 6:30-9:30. Highly recommend!
- NivaMore than a year agosuper dog friendly
Food good, customer service needs a little tune up, but dog friendly and I appreciate it.
- OlexMore than a year agoGreat place right in Old Port
Portland Lobster Co. doesn't look like much from the sidewalk, but do yourself a favor and head on in. There is often live music on in the back. If you're lucky you'll be treated to a show from Mitch Alden.
Old Port is a great place to walk around town with your dogs, and they are welcome at Portland Lobster Co.
Be warned though... If you order their lobster roll you won't be able to enjoy one anywhere else. Totally worth it though.
- ReganMore than a year agoI love this place
They allow dogs to sit out on the deck, which gives you a great ocean view. I've been there three times now with my mini-doxie. It's never been an issue and I see other dogs there. I've even seen some people order inside with their dogs. (You order inside and then pick up from a counter outside).
The bar is conveniently located on the deck, making it easy to grab a drink with your pup.
I'm a vegetarian and this place has plenty of delicious options for me, so it's good for veggies.
For all of non-veggies, everyone I have been with says it is the best lobster roll of their life (and that's what you go to Maine for, right?). We'll have to take their word for it.
