Entry Requirements
Complete the following entry requirements to travel to Turkey with your pet:
- Turkey is a high risk country for rabies. Before receiving an import permit to return to the U.S., travelers must obtain 2 pictures of their pet's front teeth, a CDC Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Record, a serologic titer from an approved laboratory and a passport photo of the owner. Once these items are obtained, apply for a permit for your pet to return to the U.S. at this link. For further guidance on returning to the U.S. with your pet from a high risk country, contact the CDC directly at cdcanimalimports@cdc.gov
- Travelers are permitted to bring two pets into Turkey tax-free.
- Pets must be microchipped, travel with a health certificate issued by a certified veterinarian in the country of origin, including proof of rabies vaccination between 30 days and 12 months of entry, and have a valid import permit (attached).
- A rabies titer test should also be obtained 90 days before travel and at least 30 days after vaccination, although this may not be required at all ports of entry.
- In addition to rabies vaccination, dogs must be vaccinated against bordetella, distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus, and cats must have the FVRCP vaccine.
- The following breeds are not permitted for entry: Pitbull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro and mixed breeds.

Quarantine Information
Pets traveling to Turkey do not need to be quarantined if they meet all the necessary requirements listed above.
