Clean, friendly hotel

Hampton Inn & Suites Lake George

We stayed 4 nights. Very clean, friendly staff. They gave us a special tag to add to the door so everyone knew a pup was inside. They had free breakfast every morning. However, we wanted to explore all the area had to offer so we ate out, but it was available. It had 2 outdoor grills if you should decide to cook out; it had tables, chairs & umbrellas outside. I saw many guests using the area for zoom meetings - breakfast outside & even picnic suppers. It had an indoor pool that was a bit cold for my husband's liking. A fresh supply of clean pool towels to use.

The parking lot was well lit. There ware pet relief areas on both sides of the hotel with extra poopie bags. There were charging stations for your electric cars - if needed. I saw lots of different pups there as guests. Every staff member was friendly. The only downside was the firepit was broken. That was one of the main reasons I booked. I like to sit & unwind by the fire with a drink. The staff said it needed a new gas line & was not operating all season. Overall, we had a delightful stay, and would consider returning there when we returned.

Will go back again

Heritage Hotel Lancaster

The hotel was very nice. When we checked in, the gentleman behind the desk placed us in a room on the ground floor, right next to the exit. We have a senior pup, so without him knowing it was extremely convenient. Room was clean. We were able to leave him when we went to dinner. Only downsides - for humans - you could not control the heat or coolness in your personal room. It had air conditioning for the entire place - you could just control if it was on low or high. I would have preferred a bit colder since it was August and quite toasty. They could install doggie waste bag stations with garbage cans on the property. I always carry my own, but someplace to dispose of it would have been nice. I would go back & stay again - they do have a restaurant on site, and right next door is the Dutch Apple Theater. Rigby did enjoy his overnight stay very much. Room had refrigerator & microwave - so feeding him was a breeze.

GREAT DAY!

The Amish Village

We arrived in Lancaster, and had other plans which fell through - I quick looked this up. Boy, what a blessing! We were able to take Rigby on the house tour - which was air conditioned. That was a delightful treat! We were able to walk the property - there were other well behaved dos - some in strollers - others walking. We encountered farm animals, shops - he was allowed in all of them in his stroller. We sat under a big shady tree - we all had a lovely time - on a hot august afternoon. Staff was wonderful to him, and he received lots of pets from staff & visitors alike. I highly recommend a few hours there with your fur-baby. I found nothing negative at all from our time there. A+

Overnight

Red Roof Inn Fairfield

When I went to check in, the staff gave me a tough time about using my American Express card to pay for the room even though I used that card to make the reservation. They had to do a paper receipt for me to sign & did not get their money instantaneously. That was a HUGE turn off. Staff was far from friendly.

Hallways smelled of weed. Guests? Employees? Unknown. King size bed caved in - in the middle - so if you slept of the edges of the bed you were good. Parking lot was well lit with plenty of lights outside.
Room was clean. Safe to leave the pup while we went out. Spots to walk the pup were limited, but they did have a clean up bag station. Website read check-in was 2pm and checkout 11am. Posted at hotel check-in 3pm, checkout noon. There was a restaurant attached but we did not go. I think they may also have had people living there on a permanent basis. When I come back to the area I would pick somewhere else to stay.

What a wonderful day!

Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway

Rigby loved the ride on the railroad. It was a lovely 70 minute trip. He enjoyed the trip - as did we. We saw a small waterfall on the trip. We sat in the top of the domed cars - it was quite enjoyable. I do recommend - well worth the price. We sat in an air conditioned car. Train was not sold out, but pretty full. I do recommend getting there an hour early - because parking was pretty far away - it was $12.00 to park - which is not listed anywhere. That is on top of your train ticket. Prices range between $22.00 & $30.00 - depending on what car you pick.

A great day!

Walkway Over the Hudson

Rigby went for a 4.5 mile walk (Back & Forth) over the walkway Over The Hudson. They have 3 Lemonade stands at the beginning - middle & other side for humans. They have a temperate of pavement sign on the highlands side - telling you the temperature of the pavement & when dogs paws can burn - from walking on what temperature. We brought plenty of water & a bowl for him to enjoy along the way as well. It was a lovely day. Plus he got lots of pets from lots of new friends he made along the way. There was a lovely breeze as we were over the Hudson River.

Great stay

Echo Valley Cottages

Sweet rustic cabin with a private deck, grill, and fire pit on the pond. They do charge extra for pups but the price is worth it. Sat out & had lovely fires in the private fire pit looking at the stars & the moon. Plenty to do in the area. Great place to come back to & unwind. Rigby loved the resident ducks at the pond. He also enjoyed sitting out in the enclosed porch in our cabin. Neat and clean. Had a treat of a screech owl one night, nothing you get from living on Long Island. Hosts were friendly. Totally enjoyable. We will be back in the future.

Mother's Day weekend getaway

Mill Stream Country Inn

Hotel was supposed to have 2 dog friendly rooms. When we arrived, they offered us a room on the 3rd floor with no elevator. I said, "That's dog friendly?" They then moved us to the 1st floor. The hotel now seems to have permanent residents. There were an additional 3 dogs that I saw. The room was not cleaned because I caught my dog behind one of the chairs chewing on something, which meant it was not cleaned before that. As for the humans, the complimentary soap & shampoo was horrible. When my husband went to the breakfast room to get a cup of coffee, there was a woman who didn't speak English. He asked for milk, the woman pointed at a dispenser. When my husband went to use it, it was syrup. If he was Buddy the Elf, it would have been fine. There was also a constant banging sound in the bathroom for our entire stay. I was VERY disappointed!

Pups & the Amish

The Amish Farm and House

Rigby was welcomed at the Amish house & Farm - from the ladies at the front desk that ohhed & Ahhed over him! to the house Tour Guide - who commented on how well behaved he was. Rigby rode on the bus & we made 2 15 minute stops at Amish Farms. He enjoyed his trip & he slept like a baby when we returned to the hotel room that night.

Great day!

Kitchen Kettle Village Shopping Mall

We enjoyed walking the village with our Pup. Everyone walked up to him like he was the Mayor - everyone wanted to pet him & know about him. So many people said that they left their buddies at home & just needed a fix. He walked the Village - met another 4 legged friend. He enjoyed his trip to the Paw Shop & got some yummy snacks from their dog biscuit showcase. He also enjoyed the 1 man band & barked when he said he was going to take a break. It was a lot of fun!
